Baby Bedtime by Mem Fox, illus. Emma Quay

Surprise by Mies van Hout

This Orq. by David Elliot, illus. Lori Nichols

If you are looking for some wonderfully thoughtful and charming picture books, then I would recommend taking a look at these titles! Sleepyheads and Baby Bedtime are gorgeously soft and sweet lullaby stories perfect for bedtime read aloud- or to help gently wind down a storytime! Surprise is another winning picture book from author/illustrator Mies van Hout. Set against a black background, the splashes of dynamic bird illustrations make the one-word-per-page celebration of parenthood an extremely touching and buoyant read. Last but not least, we have This Orq. which, similarly to Jeremy Tankard’s Me Hungry!, is told in “cave speak”. All about a young cave boy named Orq who so loves his Woma (a woolly mammoth) that he goes to great lengths to convince his mother to keep it, this is sure to incite some giggles as well as warm the heart.
